Orthopaedic surgery is the second most common surgery performed in Malaysia, and it is usually associated with moderate-to-severe pain in the postoperative period. Effective pain management is an essential component of care for any surgical patient and an important postoperative quality measure. Therefore, the principal goal of postoperative care is to achieve good pain relief while keeping the side effects (SEs) to a minimum.
