About this course

When your patient is hospitalised for COVID-19 but also has chronic kidney disease (CKD), how do you strike a balance between the risk of acute kidney injury and the benefits of remdesivir treatment?

How do you structure treatment plans in patients with multiple comorbidities while avoiding the potential hazards caused by adverse drug–drug interactions?

How do you manage COVID-19 infection and its rebound in immunocompromised patients, in the light of sparse research data?

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this module, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the impact of COVID-19 on patients with renal impairment
  • Identify the risks of remdesivir usage in patients with renal impairment
  • Define strategies to mitigate the risks associated with remdesivir treatment in COVID-19 patients with renal impairment
  • Compare treatment options available for high-risk COVID-19 patients
  • Specify contraindications for commonly used COVID-19 antivirals
  • Determine management techniques for COVID-19 rebound, specifically in immunocompromised patients
