About

Antimicrobial resistance is a growing global health threat, and community pharmacies play a critical role in addressing it. This course is designed to equip pharmacy professionals with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to implement effective antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) practices within the community pharmacy setting.

This e-learning module will explore the principles of AMS, understand the causes and consequences of inappropriate antibiotic use, and develop strategies to support responsible antimicrobial prescribing and patient education.
This course will empower you to contribute meaningfully to the fight against antimicrobial resistance, right from your place in the community.

Learning outcomes

This module aims to:

  • Enhance pharmacists' role in antimicrobial stewardship by providing knowledge on responsible antibiotic use and strategies to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
  • Promote best practices in community pharmacy to prevent antibiotic misuse and ensure effective patient counseling.

  • Encourage collaboration among healthcare professionals to strengthen antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) and improve patient outcomes.
