Overview
Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) remains a life-threatening medical emergency that requires rapid recognition, precise diagnosis, and appropriate treatment to reduce complications and fatality. Despite advances in diabetes care, missing warning signs, delayed intervention, and management errors continue to cause poor patient outcomes in both emergency and inpatient settings.
This module provides healthcare practitioners a practical understanding of the essential "what not to miss" components of DKA, based on the recommendations from the 2024 Consensus Report. Participants will learn about critical diagnostic red flags, common clinical mistakes, and essential factors that can affect patient safety and treatment success.
We hope that by the end of this course, participants can grasp evidence-based practices, early recognition and appropriate intervention to improve patient outcomes in DKA care.
