Overview
Research predicts that in the year 2050, global deaths from antimicrobial resistance can reach up to 10 million. Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) is the effort to measure and improve how antibiotics are prescribed by clinicians and used by patients to ultimately prevent antimicrobial resistance. Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs implement evidence-based interventions to promote the responsible use of antimicrobials.
This e-learning module summarizes the process of setting up and improving an AMS Program, including the key individuals of an AMS Team and the core elements essential in its implementation for effective infection prevention and control and prevention of antimicrobial resistance.
