About this course
Corticosteroids, or steroids, are immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory drugs that are used in a diverse range of medical illnesses. Topical corticosteroids, in particular, play an important role in the treatment of several dermatologic diseases. The widespread topical corticosteroid use in the primary care setting warrants a good understanding of its classes, appropriate administration, and adverse effects. This e-learning module focuses on the classification, indications, proper application, and side effects of topical corticosteroids.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this learning activity, participants are expected to:
- Understand the use of topical steroids and the various classes of the drug
- Know how to apply steroid medications and educate patients on its use
- Understand possible side effects and how to avoid these
