

Overview
Dengue is a common vector-borne disease that affects millions of people annually. The DOH multi-prong 4S
strategy is geared towards the prevention, early recognition, and timely intervention of dengue fever.
This e-learning module reviews the pathophysiology and transmission of dengue virus, its clinical
manifestations and management. It also discusses the role of environmental and self-protection preventive
measures, such as the use of insect repellents, in the control of dengue.
