About this course
HIV infection is a preventable but incurable disease. Unfortunately, there are 1.5 million newly infected people with HIV in 2020, with the Philippines having the fastest growing HIV epidemic in Asia and the Pacific. Several systems are in place to help mitigate this growing epidemic. HIV care requires a multi-disciplinary approach that combines the efforts of all health care professionals in different phases of disease management from prevention, detection, treatment, and monitoring. This e-learning module summarizes the biology of HIV and AIDS, the different HIV programs and services available, and reviews the role of family physicians in HIV and AIDS management.
