Overview
Obesity is a multifactorial, chronic, relapsing and progressive disease which significantly increases both
morbidity and mortality in affected patients. In most patients with obesity, clinically relevant
improvements in many risk factors can be seen with weight loss of 5–10% body weight. Aside from
pharmacotherapy, managing obesity often requires employing behavioral modifications such as adopting a
sustainable diet and engaging in regular physical activity.
This e-learning module reviews the
pathogenesis and management of obesity with a guide on choosing the best treatment for patients with certain
concomitant comorbidities.
